one breezy afternoon..

His hair was long, up to his shoulder, stringy pale blond with streaks of gray.
His face, a wrinkled collection of tired features, a round thick pair of glasses covering his small, beady eyes. A skinny man, I would guess he is in his fifties, with white sneakers, a patched sweaters, and seasoned pair of jeans with frayed ends..he couldn't be bothered with hems. A short cigarette stub is fixed snugly between his fingers, and it looks like it has not been lit for weeks. When he talks, he will wave his hand around, the hand with the cigarette stub, maybe he thought that it will make people pay more attention when he is speaking, if he have a cigarette butt to show.

His voice was surprisingly pleasant, and his words came out articulately. Occasionally, he will cough in a gratingly painful sound but most of the time, he tried his best to finish his sentences.

I was sitting on a bench facing a sports field, when this man came and sit beside me. He told me that he used to work in the university campus, doing various odds and ends. And then he started talking about the tunnels. Mazes of underground tunnels connecting all of Guildford. Underneath university halls, student accomodations and connecting banks. The way he told the story is very mesmerizing, and his eyes lits up as he recollects the old days where the workers goes down there in pairs, with a piece of rope so as not to get lost in the mazes of 6 foot heat pipes. He said there was a completely different world down there, an underground world that only the people who knows about it can enjoy.

He's travelled to a lot of places in his youth. Played God walking on frozen seas near Russia's coast at minus 32 celcius. He said he was involved with the construction of Kuala Lumpur's central mosque. It does sounds a bit farfetched...but he is a good story teller. And it was pleasant to listen to. He talks about the electric brae in Ayrshire, Scotland, the hill that defies gravity, where cars roll uphill if the brakes are not pulled. People cycle downhill, but free wheel uphill. He tried to explain that double magnetic forces are at work overcoming natural gravitational pulls. It is a pretty intriguing explanation but I later found out it was just a very powerful optical illusion, it was the way the slope is inclined and its surrounding locations, that makes it looks, and feels like one is rolling uphill.

Apart from that... it was a pretty good conversation. With a homeless guy.

one of my shoe heel broke off embarassingly today in a sickening crack,
and suddenly i was 3 inches shorter.
considering this is a fairly new pair, i just had to wonder aloud..
is it the way i walk (and run) , or is it my weight , or is Clarks's workmanship just horribly overrated?

one guy on scene cruelly said the taboo line. 'u need to go on diet'
and i'm sure he doesn't mean to say a good diet can make me grow taller.

coming up from the dark underwater to take a gulp of freshair..

haven't been in contact with the people on land for days..scrounge around for the current pieces of news.. read with guffaws about the Arsenal fan in Kenya, rolled about laughing on the naked rednecks spotted running wild on Johor's isles, shook my head in disbelief at the continuing fiasco in Perak and finally choked on the news bit of the Kelantan woman who died over RM2.

The Kenyan hanged himself with an Arsenal's jersey, in disbelief over the team's defeat to Manchester United..tu baru betol2 diehard fan. At least die pilih sendiri nak mati sebab EPL..kalau die gi tengok piala FA kat kelantan aritu.. mungkin die mati tanpa rela sebab kene baling batu bata.

As for the naked rednecks..it made me recalled something amusing.... once when I was 16, on a school trip to Pulau Pangkor, there was this totally obessed man hanging around with us, shirtless. He's the schools fattest teacher, also the school's fiercest ogre, cikgu disiplin la katekan. No one dared to look at him in the face.. and he was spectacularly hated. I disliked him too, can't remember why, maybe just because he's fat. Everyone called him stuffs like buncit putih behind his back, he was blessed with this unnaturally fair skin. tak cukup color pixel pigment, agaknye.

Then he decided to strip down to his boxers, nak tunjuk terrer berenang kat budak2 pompuan..but unceremoniously slipped and rolled about in the sand. In the schorching sun, with the sand glistening all over his pompuous belly, the undignified lump of fat unanimously got a new nickname, Donut.

Somehow the images of the Denmarks rednecks rolling about naked on the Mersing's sands got me thinking of a buncha pompous donuts..

And that bit about the women in Kelantan who died cuz of a purse snatcher ...that pic of her kids watering her grave with an old kettle..it just sucked away any bit of chortling I still had over Donut memory. There are actually still some people who have to borrow RM2 to buy food for their kids. Now I wonder if the people busy playing musical chairs in Perak noticed that.

Back to the UK..aside from some hoohah over a minister using the people's tax money to pay for porn over cable tv..there wasn't much interesting news.

on a more local news, there's some kinda weird parade going on in town today that's pretty much ignored by the townsfolks...pasal sumer orang tengah tunggu Sainsbury bukak kedai..ada sale halfprice pada setiap hari ahad. Silap timing la buat parade.dahla maskot pon takde. tak menarik langsong.

going down underwater again.. one week to go before freedom!

catcha later folks..Cheers.
